MIAMI, FL., April 22, 2024 - Miami-Dade County, Miami-Dade County Public Schools, The Children's Trust, and the JCS 211 Miami Helpline are proud to announce the relaunch of the More Summer Camp Choices initiative for the upcoming summer season. This partnership aims to provide access to low- and no-cost summer camp options for children across Miami-Dade County, with hundreds of listings across the county and to match your child's interests and needs.
The centralized database lists nearly 500 summer camps funded by The Children's Trust and over 180 camps from county and school systems. Thanks to this partnership, online searches increased 397.5% from the previous year, going from 90 in 2022 to 35,778 in 2023. Additionally, the initiative contributed to a 40% increase in calls to the JCS 211 Miami Helpline for summer camp information.
"Our goal is to prioritize affordability and safety to give parents peace of mind when choosing summer activities for their children. By working together, we can create a seamless experience that empowers parents to make informed decisions about their child's enrichment and enjoyment," explains James R. Haj, president & CEO of The Children's Trust.
“Jewish Community Services of South Florida (JCS) is delighted to relaunch More Summer Camp Choices with MDC, MDCPS and TCT to provide summer camp access for children throughout Miami-Dade County, regardless of socioeconomic level,” says JCS President & CEO, Miriam Singer. “JCS 211 Miami is proud to serve as our community’s one-stop information referrals helpline, and looks forward to continuing our service as our community’s safety net.”
“All kids and families in our county should have the opportunity to enjoy summer camps they can afford,” says Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava. “We are very proud to be part of this partnership that makes it easier for thousands of families to access low no-cost summer camp options.”
With summer just around the corner, the collaboration will continue to help parents create a fulfilling and unforgettable summer experience regardless of their financial situation.
