Summertime in Miami ushers in the return of a beloved tradition: The Children’s Trust Family Expo -- Miami’s largest, free family resource event. The Family Expo is again being held in the north and southwest to ensure residents from throughout the county will be able to make it to one of the two events.
The first event is being held on July 27 at Florida Memorial University in Miami Gardens and the second will be a week later, August 3, at Miami Dade College Kendall Campus. For a second consecutive year, The Trust has partnered with Uber to help more families attend the event and gear up for the upcoming school year. An Uber Voucher good for $15 each way is available (Uber Voucher terms and conditions apply).
The Children’s Trust Family Expo remains the best place for parents and families to learn about the wealth of opportunities available for their children -- from after-school programs to nutrition education, injury prevention, caring for children with special needs, pre-K registration information and everything in between. While parents discover all that is possible at the expo, kids can partake in multiple activities including a Fun Zone by Fútbol con Corazón and Carnival Fitness, face painting, photo booths, food trucks, character shows and much more.
As in recent years, the Family Expo events are being held only weeks before the start of the school year and parents, caregivers and children will have the opportunity to take home a variety of school supplies provided by The Trust and exhibitors, including book bags, pencils, pens, folders, among other items.
“We have added amazing sponsors and exhibitors this year to raise the bar beyond what families already know to expect from this event” said President & CEO of The Children’s Trust, James R. Haj. “Once again we are excited to connect the diverse population in Miami-Dade with our extensive network of providers, community agencies and organizations dedicated to aiding families in our community.”
Drawing thousands of attendees annually, the expo will provide both indoor and outdoor activities for comfort and entertainment. Some of the family favorites returning this year include the UHealth Jackson Urgent Care Teddy Bear Clinic, where children can bring their teddy bears to be "treated" by health professionals and The Children’s Trust Book Club. Other features include a Kid Zone and Fun Zone, arts and crafts, photo booths, food trucks and character appearances and shows.
