The Children's Trust is proud to announce its 11th consecutive Certificate of Achievement in Excellence for Financial Reporting, awarded by the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA). This prestigious honor is a testament to The Trust's transparency and accountability, as well as to its dedication to the families of Miami-Dade County and the children it serves.
Trust President and CEO James R. Haj said, "As stewards of public funds, we recognize our duty to the families we serve. Our commitment to transparency and honesty is not just an organizational value; it's a promise we made to the community, and we continue to honor that commitment."
William Kirtland, chief financial officer at The Trust, highlighted the significance of this achievement, stating, "In receiving this award, we celebrate the collective efforts of our team, whose commitment to excellence in reporting makes this achievement possible. The families of Miami-Dade County can take pride in knowing that The Trust is a vital and transparent part of our community, dedicated to maintaining the highest standards for the past two decades."
As has been the process each year, The Trust's financial report was reviewed by independent auditors who found no significant deficiencies or material weaknesses. This remarkable achievement highlights the team's outstanding ability to navigate the intricacies of fiscal stewardship while maintaining the highest financial reporting standards.
The GFOA recognized The Children's Trust's Annual Comprehensive Financial Report for the fiscal year ending September 30, 2022, and lauded the organization for its "spirit of full disclosure" in clearly communicating its financial story. This Certificate of Achievement solidifies The Trust's position as a leader in governmental accounting and financial reporting.
